Healthy Ways To Eat Chocolate For Breakfast

healthy chocolate overnight oats recipe

Who doesn’t love chocolate? Who doesn’t want to eat chocolate for breakfast, lunch and dinner? Aside from the week following Easter (when the only eggs we know are cadburys) there’s not many times that it’s acceptable to indulge in sugary treats pre 8AM. Fortunately for all us sweet-toothed foodies, here are some delicious breakfast recipes you can try that give you the chocolate fix you need, without any added guilt.

Chocolate and banana porridge

This is one of the best recipes if you have less time than you’d like to prepare breakfast, but still want a tasty filling dish that will last you till lunchtime. For this you’ll need rolled oats, 1 banana and 1 carton of chocolate alpro soya milk. You can probably see where this is going - rather than using water or your usual milk choice to make the porridge, substitute with the chocolate alpro soya. Cook for a few minutes in the microwave or hob if you prefer, and once the porridge has reached your preferred consistency, add chopped up or mashed banana. The result is a dreamy, creamy bowl of chocolatey goodness that you’ll be making for many mornings to come!

Nutty chocolate overnight oats

If you have zero time in the morning for making anything other than a quick coffee, this overnight oats recipe is for you. In a bowl, whisk together rolled oats, almond milk, a tablespoon of almond butter, a tablespoon of cacao powder and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Once the mixture is made, transfer it into mason jars or containers of your choice and leave to chill overnight. The next morning you can choose to either eat the oats at home if you have the time, or grab the jar, a spoon and indulge in your chocolatey treat on the go.

Chocolate and peanut butter smoothie bowl

Smoothies are a great on the go breakfast idea, but for mornings when you have a bit more time, a smoothie bowl is a perfect meal to make. Blend bananas, peanut butter, almond milk and a tablespoon of cacao powder or cacao nibs. Be careful with the amount of liquid used, as the smoothie used is supposed to have a thicker consistency than usual. Once that's blended, pour the mixture into a bowl and top with chopped banana, additional chopped fruit, chia seeds and any other lovely toppings you can find.
